First Weber agent Suzy Favor Hamilton holds 4th annual Run/Walk to benefit children with cancer.

Suzy Favor Hamilton, an agent with First Weber Group and spokeswoman for the First Weber Foundation, is holding her 4th annual Suzy’s Run/Walk for Capital Candlelighters on September 5, 2010.

About 100 children and teens are diagnosed with cancer each year at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison. As their families leap into the battle to save the child’s life, one parent must usually stop working in order to be with the child or teen through months of intensive treatments, cutting the family’s income just at the time when their expenses skyrocket. Normal expenses like utilities, rent or mortgage, car repairs and groceries are hard to meet on top of the added costs of travel, medication co-pays and medical supplies, care for other children in the family, etc.

Only one organization exists to support these kids and their families, providing emotional support, educational materials and financial assistance through the childhood cancer journey. Capital Candlelighters serves these young people, their parents and siblings because we know that kids can’t fight cancer alone!

On Labor Day weekend, runners and walkers can show their support for area kids with cancer at the 4th annual Suzy’s Run/Walk for Capital Candlelighters, Sunday, September 5th at 10am at Keva Sports Center, 8312 Forsythia St. Middleton.

Participants are invited to come and meet our Honorary Chairperson, Olympic runner Suzy Favor Hamilton. Join Suzy and our honorary starters, Kelly, Jaxson, Alexis, Morgan, Carlos and Alyssa, young people who are each fighting a battle with cancer.
