What are all those letters after some REALTOR names and what do they mean?

February 5, 2015

We call them “designations” and they are the result of specialized training.  First Weber agents do not need to take any of this training to be a REALTOR – it is above and beyond the required education and training.  So finding an agent with lots of letters behind their name is generally a good thing.  First Weber agents with designations have taken the extra step and personal initiative to spend time and money to further their knowledge and better serve buyers and sellers.  REALTORS view designations as a sign of professionalism and qulifications, but does the public know what they mean?

Some of the designations you’ll see and what those letters mean:

GRI: Graduate, Realtors Institute

CRS: Certified Residential Specialist

ABR: Accredited Buyer Representative

CSS or SRES: Seniors Real Estate Specialist

CLHMS: Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist

SFR: Short Sales & Foreclosure Certification

There are many more, but you should get the idea. If the idea of working with an agent who goes the extra mile in their own training appeals to you, you can search for agents by designations at firstweber.com.
