Wisconsin real estate market posts strongest first half since before 2005

The first half of 2016 was the strongest period for Wisconsin real estate sale since before the recession. Home sales were up 5.5% over the first half of 2015 and median prices are up 4.5% in that same time frame.  Comparing June 2016 to June 2015, home sales are up statewide by 3.4% with  9,778 properties sold. Median home prices are up 3.8 compared with last June. Median sale price for a home in Wisconsin is now $174,900. The last time we saw June median home sale prices at $170,000 was June of 2007 before the recession began.

 

June is always a very strong month for Wisconsin real estate sales,with more than 10% of the annual sales in the state closing in June.

Southeast Wisconsin/Metro Milwaukee real estate statistics

3513 homes sold in Southeast Wisconsin in June 2016, a 3.7% increase over last June.  Median sales price down 0.5% to $184,000

(includes Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha Counties)

 

South Central/Southwestern Wisconsin area real estate statistics

2090  homes sold in South Central Wisconsin  in June 2016, 2%  over  last June. Median sales price up 9% to $209,900.

(includes Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Dodge, Grant, Green, Iowa, Jefferson, Lafayette, Richland, Rock and Sauk counties )

Western Wisconsin area real estate statistics

972  homes sold in Western Wisconsin  in June 2016,  down 5.4% over last June. Median sales price up 3.4% to $171,000.

(includes Buffalo, Chippewa, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Pepin, Pierce, St. Croix. Trempealeau and Vernon counties )

Northeast Wisconsin area real estate statistics

1724 homes sold in Northeast Wisconsin  in June 2016,  up 4.4%  over last June. Median sales price up 2.1% to $145,000

(includes Brown, Calumet, Door, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Waupaca and Winnebago counties )

Central Wisconsin area real estate statistics

603 homes sold in Central Wisconsin  in June 2016,  up 14.2% over last June. Median sales price up 2.5% to $134,000.

Northwoods Wisconsin real estate statistics

856 homes sold in  Northwoods Wisconsin  in June,  up 7.8% over last June. Median sales price up 5.7% to $148,000

(includes Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Florence, Forest, Iron, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida, Polk, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, Taylor, Vilas and Washburn counties )
