Record year for Wisconsin real estate sales

We ended 2016 on a strong note – busy all through fall.  And the year-end numbers are truly impressive – a record year with 81,000 units sold across the state.  Solid sales performance was seen in every region of Wisconsin from gains in the 3.5% range in the Central region to 7.8% in the North.

  • Sales increased by 6.1% over a very strong 2015
  • Median prices rose almost 6% over last year – now at $165,000.

Southeast Wisconsin/Metro Milwaukee real estate statistics

29,242 homes sold in Southeast Wisconsin in 2016, a 7.2% increase over last year.  Median sales price up 4.2 to $175,000.

(includes Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha Counties)

 

South Central/Southwestern Wisconsin area real estate statistics

16,512  homes sold in South Central Wisconsin  in 2016,  up 3.7%  over  last year. Median sales price up 5.4% to $194,000.

(includes Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Dodge, Grant, Green, Iowa, Jefferson, Lafayette, Richland, Rock and Sauk counties )

 

Western Wisconsin area real estate statistics

8,078  homes sold in Western Wisconsin  in 2016,  up 5.9% over last year. Median sales price up 8.1% to $167,500.

(includes Buffalo, Chippewa, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Pepin, Pierce, St. Croix. Trempealeau and Vernon counties )

 

Northeast Wisconsin area real estate statistics

14,880 homes sold in Northeast Wisconsin  in 2016,  up 6.8%  from last year. Median sales price up 3.7% to $140,000

(includes Brown, Calumet, Door, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Waupaca and Winnebago counties )

 

Central Wisconsin area real estate statistics

4,948 homes sold in Central Wisconsin  in 2016,  up 3.6% over last year. Median sales price up 5.8% to $125,500.

(includes Adams, Clark, Juneau, Marathon, Marquette, Portage, Waushara and Wood counties )

 

Northwoods Wisconsin real estate statistics

7,599 homes sold in  Northwoods Wisconsin  in  2016,  up 7.8% over last year. Median sales price up 6.8% to $141,500.

(includes Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Florence, Forest, Iron, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida, Polk, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, Taylor, Vilas and Washburn counties )
