Comments (0) Trackbacks (0) How to help an injured Wisconsin veteranThere's a noble organization called Homes for our Troops which builds entire homes and adapts homes for severely injured veterans. First Weber Group in Southeastern Wisconsin is participating in a project to build a new home for SPS Jason Schultz who served our country and was injured on duty. We've raised almost $11,000 for the construction of Jason's home - but much more is needed and the excavation and foundation work began this week. Some of what is still needed are appliances, siding, finish carpentry and well installation. More information on how to participate and offer your services are here at the Project Update page for SPC Jason Schultz. According to Bob Larson, who spearheaded the campaign for First Weber, this is how he and his team raised the funds:
Utmost thanks to Bob Larson of First Weber's Waukesha office for spearheading this worthy project. Here's a previous blog entry on the Homes for our Troops project. "But what if I lose my job?" First Weber now offers a Job Loss Protection programWe all know home prices are fantastic now - but what about the job market? If you are looking to buy but are holding back due to employment concerns, the H.E.L.P. (Homeowner Education and Loan Protection) program may ease your mind a bit. First Weber sellers who want to offer the H.E.L.P. program as a way to market their property in today's market may do so. Buyers writing offers to purchase with First Weber agents may request in their offer that H.E.L.P. coverage be provided by any seller. It is up to the seller to accept and offer the coverage. Read all the details about the Job Loss Protection program here. Does the program sound interesting to you? Talk to your agent about the program or send us a question or comment. Disclosure: First Weber Group does not run this program. It is run by The Rainy Day Foundation and here are their pages on the program. We are happy to offer it to First Weber sellers and buyers who work with us and request it and we hope it helps more buyers get into homes. Friday, September 18. 2009

Comments (2) Trackbacks (0) Historic Home Fall Tour in RacineAcross Wisconsin you can find quaint towns and a sense of history. Going on next weekend is a Historic Home Tour in Racine, Wisconsin. Here the Racine Journal Times wrote a nice article describing the event. John Crimmings, Manager of First Weber's Racine office, also contributes his thoughts toward the event here: ![]() Photo by Charles S Vallone "Preservation Racine's Tour of Historic Places is as much a part of Autumn in Racine as is the changing trees and falling leaves. This really is a tradition that has met with tremendous success over the years. Each year hundreds of people take part in the tour and enjoy a beautiful Fall afternoon. This year they are concentrating on College Avenue, the last cobblestone street in the city. Racine's Southside is part of the largest Historic District in the State of Wisconsin. It features many spectacular homes that have been restored and refurbished and are excellent examples of the quality of years gone by. On further note, specific to First Weber. Our office has always been supportive of Preservation Racine and we have served as a ticket outlet for this great event for as long as I can remember. One person within our Company, however, deserves to be recognized for her continued efforts in local preservation. Pat Murphy, a salesperson for over 35 years, continues to spearhead support for Preservation Racine and has really become the public persona of that organization and this wonderful event. There really is no way to properly thank Pat for her efforts but Racine residents, and others alike, need to know how proud we are to have Pat as part of our team." If you like history and are in the Racine area, stop in the First Weber office (1100 N. Main) to pick up your tickets for the tour which runs Sept 27 noon - 5:30 p.m.

Wausau home sale statisticsSales of Single Family homes in Wausau, WI have been stable over the past few months. While less were sold than in recent years, stability in the Wisconsin real estate market is a good thing. In fact, August of 2009 Wausau area home sales almost matched sales of August 2008 - very close! The average "Days on Market" for 2009 in the Wausau area varied from a high of 156 days to a low of 129 days. So far this year, 772 residential homes were sold in the Wausau area. 128 sold in August, the highest so far this year. Thanks to Ron Zahrt for providing the Wausau area real estate sales data shown below. Bar_Chart_of_sales__August_09.pdf

This is not a press release - it is about a person. A person who happens to be with First Weber Group and who was recently recognized for Distinguished Service to the Wisconsin REALTORS Association at the 2009 WRA Annual Convention. His name is Ron Zahrt. (The one front and center wearing orange in the picture) Ron has been in real estate for 29 years +. He is President and owner/partner with First Weber Group Northern Wisconsin LLC, and sells/manages in the Wausau area. He's got a litany of credentials, which I will list press release style, after injecting my opinion Ron is that the kind of guy you would like to have as your neighbor. OK, here's the list of some of what Ron Zahrt has done to get this award: serving as Past President of the Central Wisconsin Multiple Listing Service, multiple terms on the Board of Directors of the Central Wisconsin Board of REALTORS and positions on numerous WRA committees. He is a member of the Wausau Early Bird Rotary Club and Employers in Support of the Guard and Reserves; he has been a United Way Volunteer of the Year in Marathon County, Wisconsin; and Ron is also a cancer survivor who represents Congressional District 7 in the American Cancer Society's Action Council. There are a few points, I guess. One, congratulations to Ron. Two, real estate is sold by people, to people and is really all about connecting to people through actions, which Ron does. And three, First Weber Group is happy to have him on our team, making us a better company. Three Cheers for Ron! Wednesday, September 16. 2009

First Weber lands large condo project and it's a beauty!
Avian at Tuckaway Condominiums in Franklin, Wisconsin are now being marketed by First Weber Group and Carol Becker Samsa. This is a large condominium project with 70 units in 35 side by side buildings located on 21 acres. 3 different styles of condos are available. Here's a Front Runner tour of one style. And another one here. Check out the interactive google maps on those tours! There's floor plans and more here. Built by Mark Carstensen Construction. These condos look very nice to me. Love the use of stone. They hardly look like condos at all but really nice single family homes. What do you think? Monday, September 14. 2009

Welcome to First Weber, Coldwell Banker Schwab of Oshkosh!First Weber Group expands into Oshkosh,Wisconsin real estate market in a big way! We welcome Coldwell Banker Schwab, the largest real estate firm in Oshkosh with dominant market share and 40 agents to our Wisconsin real estate team. Dennis and Gail Schwab have been in real estate for over 30 years and have the kind of reputation any company would be happy to welcome - we certainly look for that when expansion opportunities come along. This was a real good match for both companies. Seems the news is spreading in Oshkosh quickly! We've already seen newspaper articles in the local paper and tweets by the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce among others. Amazing how news travels on twitter! You can follow First Weber on twitter here. Coldwell Banker Schwab had an interest in providing good technology for buyers and sellers. First Weber provides just that with our Front Runner multi-media marketing for every listing, (great video here, if you have not seen it already) and our numerous inhouse technology systems that provides anything from market share reports to websites to advertising and mailing materials. Signs are being changed over, the website is being worked on, the many listings will be moved over, the many agents added to our rosters, technology systems and the like. Soon the Front Runner smart signs with texting, multi-media and call capture plus all the other Front Runner features will be available on Schwabs property listings. We are striving for a hassle-free transition to welcome our new Oshkosh connection in the best way possible. Now, all that transition is not complete yet by any means - the cat got out of the bag a little early. But it is full speed ahead in getting First Weber's newest office running at full First Weber capacity. WELCOME, we're thrilled! If there's anyone in Oshkosh - seller, agent or resident -who has a question about First Weber Group - read our blog, make a comment, ask a question! Wednesday, September 9. 2009

Stabilization on the way in WisconsinWRA: Wisconsin Housing Market May Be Stabilizing The Wisconsin REALTORS® Association (WRA) reports that the state’s residential real estate market is showing signs of stabilization. The WRA recorded a 10.5 percent decline in statewide home sales during the second quarter, which was well below the steep reductions in Wisconsin sales volume that have been reported over the previous few quarters. WRA Chairman Michael Mulleady comments, “Overall, the reduction in existing home sales of 10.5 percent, comparing the second quarter of 2009 with the second quarter of 2008, was much more moderate than we experienced earlier in the recession where the average decline has been much steeper. . . . This is the first indication that we may be getting ready to turn the corner on real estate in the state.” WRA President William Malkasian added that the new federal tax credit for first-time home buyers has definitely enticed more purchases of so-called “starter homes,” a trend that brought down the state median price.
