How to help an injured Wisconsin veteran

There’s a noble organization called Homes for our Troops which builds entire homes and adapts homes for severely injured veterans.  First Weber Group in Southeastern Wisconsin is participating in a project to build a new home for SPS Jason Schultz who served our country and was injured on duty.  We’ve raised almost $11,000 for the construction of Jason’s home – but much more is needed and the excavation and foundation work began this week.  Some of what is still needed are appliances, siding, finish carpentry and well installation.  More information on how to participate and offer your services are here at the Project Update page for SPC Jason Schultz

According to Bob Larson, who spearheaded the campaign for First Weber, this is how he and his team raised the funds:

  1. The Waukesha Office did a letter campaign to the agent’s contacts making them aware of the cause and asking for $1.00 donations. If each of us donated $1, think of the difference that could be made. We literally had donations of $50 checks and everything in between! The agent that collected the most was Dan Stair with $706.00!!!
  2. We had a "Social" fund raiser at Rookies in Milwaukee.
  3. We had solicited funds from First Weber agents through group emails
  4. We had a $5,000.00 contribution from the First Weber Foundation!!
  5. Carl Munkwitz also solicited building supplies and services through the First Weber Concierge Service.

Utmost thanks to Bob Larson of First Weber’s Waukesha office for spearheading this worthy project.  Here’s a previous blog entry on the Homes for our Troops project.
