Sales in Dane County are 18.4% ahead of last’s year’s May sales.  Year to date, Dane county real estate sales are more than 25% ahead of last year.  May also marks the tenth time in the last eleven months in which Dane County monthly sales exceeded those of the corresponding month of 2009.

Many other counties in South Central Wisconsin fared well. Dodge, Green and Rock County all exceeded May 2009 real estate sales. Columbia, Iowa and Sauk did not beat May 2009’s sales, yet all are ahead of the 2009 pace of sales. Grant County matched last’s years May sales, but remains 4% off year to date.

Properties in the $100,000-$250,000 price range accounted for the majority of sales. 59% of single family home and 68% of condo sales fell within this price range.

Prices remain stable with no major fluctuations in either direction. Interest rates remain low.    Many are optimistic that the Wisconsin real estate market is on its way to normalcy.
