Now is a great time to buy real estate. Get more house for your money and borrow when rates are low to save thousands of dollars over the period of your loan.

Are you thinking of buying real estate in Wisconsin but are not sure the time is right?  There are so many reasons to buy now and we’re not just saying that because we are First Weber Group and we sell Wisconsin real estate.  Real estate consultant Steve Harney has an excellent post on  that subject here with quotes for various sources if you are skeptical.  He also talks about 5 reasons you should buy a home today. The Small Business Times also ran a story called "Real estate – It’s a great time to buy" in their July 23 issue.

Why buy now?

Housing is more affordable than it has been in decades

  • The National Association of Home Builders reports that low rates, prices and high inventory are combining for the fifth consecutive quarter to make housing the most affordable it has been in decades.
  • Their Housing Opportunity Index shows that 72.2% of all new and existing homes sold in the first quarter of 2010 were affordable to families earning the national median income of $63,800

Mortgage rates are at record lows.  Buying now while prices are low and rates are low makes for a very attractive 30 year monthly mortgage payment, saving thousands of dollars over the length of your loan.

To borrow a quote from the KCM blog post above

“We want to point out that the downside of investing in housing right now is about as low as you will ever see.”

John Burns, CEO of John Burns Real Estate Consulting, in a Housing Wire article (July 7, 2010)
