Metro Milwaukee real estate Sales up 8% from July – a small step in a positive direction

September 10, 2010

Metro Milwaukee residential home sales were up over July, 2010 by 8% and thank goodness for that! The number of homes sold is still considerably down because July, 2010 saw a large drop in sales. This August increase is a step in the right direction as we head into fall.

Last fall, real estate sales in Metro Milwaukee were very strong due to the First Time Home Buyer tax credits. September may be a strong month for closings as those who had a binding contract in place by April 30, 2010 were given an extension until September 30, 2010 to close and still get the credit.  It is important to note that with today’s low interest rates, even without a tax credit, buyers can save thousands on the purchase of a home now.

The chart is not pleasant to look at. However, August’s increase is a small positive.  Source Metro MLS
