Spring curb appeal tips for the exterior of your home

It’s finally spring here is southeastern Wisconsin! I am so sorry that our neighbors in northern Wisconsin are still seeing snow piles. Those will melt soon enough. It is May after all! At this time of year, thoughts usually turn first to gardening. Yes, the yard needs some love including seeding and fertilizing and the garden needs to be prepped for baby plantings so they can grow those beautiful blooms and yummy vegetables. I want to touch on something else that should not be neglected in this beautiful Spring weather – the exterior of your home. If you have non-painted siding (vinyl, aluminum, etc), then a good power washing will do wonders for your curb appeal. Curb appeal isn’t just for when you are selling your home. Curb appeal can bring the perceived value of your whole neighborhood up or down. If you need to rent a power washer, see if a neighbor will split the cost with you. Then both of your homes can sparkle. But that is not all…

If you have painted siding, walk around your home and look at your siding closely. And don’t forget to look at the shutters too. Do you like what you see? Is the paint flaking? Is it peeling? Are the shutters faded? How does the caulk around the windows look? Time to change the color of the front door? If you think that it’s time to paint and you want to tackle that job yourself, click here to start learning from experts how to paint the exterior of your home the right way.
