Wisconsin home sales up almost 10%, prices up almost 8%

Sales keep ricing, prices also rise a solid amount

The Wisconsin real estate market continues to improve, with April being the 22nd month of increased home sale numbers.  Prices are looking up too – the median home sale price in Wisconsin rose almost 8% over this time last year. That’s a solid gain.

Price Pressure

“We’re seeing strong upward price pressure statewide and across all regions,” said Michael Theo, WRA President and CEO. Theo points out the tight inventory of entry level homes for sale is helping to fuel the higher end market. “We’ve been hearing from REALTORS  that trade up buyers are having veru little problem selling their existing homes, which explains why higher end homes are moving more quickly than they have in the past,” he said.

Despite the rising prices, the Home Affordability Index is still high at 255 compared with 258 last year. Wisconsin remains more affordable than the national average. Source WRA
