How to add color to your home, yet still be move-in ready for homebuyers

June 16, 2016

Neutral, clean and decluttered properties are easiest to show and sell.  But it is nice when a home shows some personality as well!

After cleaning and painting your walls a neutral color (does not have to be white, but nothing bold), here’s how you can infuse some personality into your home while still being neutral enough for potential homebuyers:

  • Add bright spots of color to neutral rooms with throw pillows, colorful art
  • A colorful rug or two. Stay away from colored carpet!
  • Try introducing textures and patterns to add contrast and interest

Any flowers, artwork, rugs, throws or pillows will add bold splashes of color without scaring off those who want to be able to move right in.  Your colorful accent pieces that make your home look fun and inviting will be gone when they move in, yet the nice neutral carpet/flooring and freshly painted walls will remain as their blank slate. Enjoy and hope this gives you some great ideas on preparing your home to sell.

Here are some other resources about adding color and interest, while remaining neutral. Neutral does not have to mean boring!
