First Weber Marshfield office/First Weber Foundation raise over $3000 to provide weekend bag lunches for kids

June 19, 2018

Despite the miserable weather, the support of the community was wonderful!  We raised about $1525 for the Nutrition on Weekends program (NOW), which the First Weber Foundation will be matching.

The NOW program serves over 600 children within the Marshfield community by sending a sack lunch home with them on Fridays from school.  A few years ago, some guidance counselors shared with some community members that many children go hungry on the weekends while their parents are working, and many times the only hot meal they receive is at school.  The sack lunch includes a peanut butter/jelly sandwich, carrots, cheerios, string cheese, applesauce or an orange/apple.

Most of the donations and the time to pack the 600+ lunches are donated by local businesses throughout Marshfield area.

We were very happy to have the First Weber Foundation double the money we raised to provide even more support to such an amazing cause!
