Wisconsin Real Estate Report – January 2021

February 22, 2021

Wisconsin home sales are looking solid to start off in 2021! The number of home sales in January 2021 was 4,659, which was an increase of 9.8% compared to January 2020. Statewide listings were down 35.8% to 15,423 while the median single-family home price rose 10.5% to $210,000. Houses sold quicker this January compared to last January. On average, homes are on the market for 91 days, which is 15.7% less time than January of 2020.

With January typically being the slowest month of the year, 2021 really started off on a high note given the number of home sales compared to last year. According to WRA Board Chair, Mary Duff, it’s not likely we will continue to see a record pace for home sales unless inventory improves. Mortgage rates continue to be very low, which is fueling the demand for homes.
