Wisconsin Real Estate Report – March 2021

2021 started off hot in terms of home sales. The number of home sales in March 2021 was 5,874, which was an increase of 0.8% compared to March 2020. Statewide listings were down 36.9% to 17,175 while the median single-family home price rose 10.3% to $229,900. Houses sold quicker this March compared to last March. On average, homes are on the market for 90 days, which is 15.1% less time than March of 2020.

Wisconsin home sales saw a new record for the month of March. Inventory continues to be low as we’ve seen in previous months, which has had an impact on the median sale price. WRA President and CEO, Michael Theo, stated: “Even with significant housing price pressure, Wisconsin housing remains affordable, but the window to get a great mortgage rate may be closing, so working with a REALTOR® who is experienced is important.”
