First Weber bicycle fundraiser to help send veterans on “Never Forgotten Honor Flight”

This coming weekend First Weber Group and the First Weber Foundation are sponsoring the Bike for Honor Flight 2010 in Wisconsin Rapids to raise money to send veterans to visit Washington D.C. and the war memorials in their honor.   There is a 100 mile ride, 50 mile ride and a Fun ride in which you can choose your distance. The First Weber Bike for Honor Flight costs $25 and is set for August 14 at Veterans Park in Wisconsin Rapids.

Mike Spranger of First Weber is organizing the event and was quoted in the WisconsinRapidsTribune.com as saying "Our goal is to raise $10,000 on that bike ride, and that would allow us to send 20 vets on a flight." "I grew up in the 60’s, watching the reports of the Vietnam War, and I guess that must have made an impression on me," he said. "I see the veterans and realize the sacrifices they made."

The WisconsinRapidsTribune.com did a nice interview with Mike and a veteran who has made the trip. It is an inspiring story. We’re proud to be associated with Mike and his work in this worthy cause.   Wow, to be able to send 20 veterans on the Honor Flight!

Never Forgotten Honor Flight serves nineteen counties in Northern Wisconsin and is based in Wausau. Here’s a little bit more about a great organization.
