Weekend get aways in Wisconsin – what’s your pick?

Door County WI

Did you know that Door County, Wisconsin has more shoreline than any other U.S. County? More than 250 miles!  Door County is a popular tourist destination in Wisconsin, located on Wisconsin’s "thumb".  Attractions include beaches, shopping, sunsets, parks, wineries, art galleries, boating, swimming, more shopping and a long history including that of shipwrecks, shipbuilding, lighthouses and logging.  There are very few stoplights in Door County though traffic does get heavy in the summer. Many of the towns can be enjoyed by foot or bike.  Choose from 5 state parks to take in the high point of Door County: natural beauty. Check out the year-round island community of Washington Island at the penisula’s tip. Ponder Death’s Door as you pass by ferry to Washington Island -named Death’s Door because of the many old ship wrecks in these waters where Green Bay meets Lake Michigan.

One park to visit – especially on a windy day when Lake Michigan is riled up enough to produce some good waves, is
Cave Point County Park.  What’s your favorite place to stay or thing to do in Door County?

Another Wisconsin get away destination – there are many – is New Glaurus. This is a beautiful part of Wisconsin with rolling hills dotted with farms. The village of New Glarus is called Little Switzerland.  Take a day drive or a weekend trip to enjoy New Glarus.    New Glarus is also well known for its beer and brewery – they give tours!

More ideas: Try Mineral Point for a dose of history and art.  Lake Geneva for some sightseeing, boating and shopping.  Minocqua, "Nature’s original waterpark", for some good old fashioned "Up North" relaxation with many, many inland lakes to explore. We are blessed to live in a state with so much to do and see right "in our own backyard."

Beautiful homes and condominiums of all price rangess dot Wisconsin’s many shorelines and country roads.  As you travel around Wisconsin this summer and fall, chances are you’ll see orange First Weber for sale signs. Just a little reminder than pretty much anywhere you are in Wisconsin, First Weber can help you buy a home – or vacation home.
