Wisconsin home sales: Best April sales in eleven years… home prices up 4.9%, sales up 8.8%

Wisconsin’s hot real estate market continues into April with home sales up statewide by 8.8% over April 2015 with 7078 properties sold.

Median home prices are up 4.9% compared with last April. Median sale price for a home in Wisconsin is now $161,622.

“We are entering the fifth year of price recovery, and home prices are likely to continue in the foreseeable future,” said Mike Theo, WRA President and CEO. The median sale price in 2012 back when sale prices started to rise again was just $128,125

April sales were up in all regions of the state varying from 4-16% except the Central region with -2.7% fewer homes selling this April compared with an extremely strong April in the area last year.

Southeast Wisconsin/Metro Milwaukee real estate statistics

2630 homes sold in Southeast Wisconsin in April 2016, a 12.1% increase over last April.  Median sales price up 2.5% to $173,000

(includes Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha Counties)

 

South Central/Southwestern Wisconsin area real estate statistics

1479  homes sold in South Central Wisconsin  in April 2016 up 6.1%  over  last April. Median sales price up 3.2% to $190,900.

(includes Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Dodge, Grant, Green, Iowa, Jefferson, Lafayette, Richland, Rock and Sauk counties )

Western Wisconsin area real estate statistics

733  homes sold in Western Wisconsin  in April 2016,  up 16.9% over last April. Median sales price up 9.9% to $167,000.

(includes Buffalo, Chippewa, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Pepin, Pierce, St. Croix. Trempealeau and Vernon counties )

Northeast Wisconsin area real estate statistics

1247 homes sold in Northeast Wisconsin  in April 2016,  up 4%  from last April. Median sales price up 1.4% to $133,400

(includes Brown, Calumet, Door, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Waupaca and Winnebago counties )

Central Wisconsin area real estate statistics

434 homes sold in Central Wisconsin  in April 2016,  down 2.7% from last April. Median sales price down 4.8% to $109,700.

Northwoods Wisconsin real estate statistics

544 homes sold in  Northwoods Wisconsin  in April,  up 12.9% over last April. Median sales price up 4.1% to $130,000.

(includes Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Florence, Forest, Iron, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida, Polk, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, Taylor, Vilas and Washburn counties )
