Metro Milwaukee real estate market in January, 2017: Prices up – often by double digits, listings scarce.

Starting the year off with the same story: Strong sales, rising prices, low level of listing inventory – although we have seen a good increase in listings in Ozaukee and Racine Counties.  That should bring a bit more balance to those counties.  It is an excellent time to put your home on the market – buyers are often

Here’s a look at sales by County in the Milwaukee area (source Metro MLS)

Milwaukee County home sales

582 Milwaukee County home sales this year compared to last January ’s 542.  An increase of 7.4, even with listings down 5.8% in the county.

Median sales price up 12% to $142,250

 

Waukesha County home sales

237 Waukesha County home sales this year compared to last January ’s 236. Listings down 11.6% in the county.

Median sales price down .2% to $254,000.

Ozaukee County home sales

58 Ozaukee County home sales this year compared to last January ’s 59. Listings up 12% in Ozaukee County.

Median sales price up 11.6% to $254,900

Washington County home sales

96 Washington County home sales this year compared to last January ’s 96. Listings down 18.5% in Washington County.

Median sales price up 9% to $213,500.

 Racine County home sales

141 Racine County home sales this year compared to last January ’s 122. An increase of 15.6%. Listings up 9%.

Median sales price up 15% to $139,000.
