Inventory remains tight in the second month of 2022. Statewide listings were down 17.0% to 14,157 while the median single-family home price rose 9.3% to $235,000. In February 2022 there were 4,300 homes sold, which was a decrease of 4.7% compared to February 2021. Homes continue to sell quicker including this last February. On average, homes are on the market for 82 days, which is 13.7% less time than February of 2021.
As previously mentioned, inventory has been low not only in February but for the last several months. However, despite low housing inventory, almost broke the all-time record for winter sales. According to Brad Lois, 2022 Chairman of the Board of Directors, Wisconsin REALTORS® Association, “REALTORS® closed more than 16,000 homes between December and February, which is only about 1% lower than the all-time record for winter sales, which was recorded last year.”
