First Weber Gears Up For Giving Tuesday

November 14, 2022

The First Weber Foundation is on a mission to show the generosity of First Weber this month. A Giving Tuesday Drive, set to end on November 23, encourages First Weber professionals to utilize the Group Giving or Matching Gifts programs to make a difference this coming holiday season.

In addition to financial donations, First Weber offices are planning collections for food pantries and humane societies, as well as highlighting some of their volunteer efforts in their communities.

According to the website, GivingTuesday.org, Giving Tuesday was established in 2012 as a “day that encourages people to do good.” The website promotes “Radical Generosity,” the concept that the suffering of others should be considered as intolerable to us as our own suffering.

“It means the world to me that First Weber has a giving heart. Through the First Weber Foundation, my donations are even more impactful to the non-profit organizations I care about in my community. There are a number of programs the First Weber Foundation has to leverage but I specifically love the Matching Gifts program. I am able to make my individual donations stretch further with their contribution. Thank you, First Weber, for continuing to care for my community beyond just a real estate transaction.” – Rhiannon Diedrichs, First Weber-Fond du Lac Office

On Giving Tuesday 2022 – November 29 – the FW Foundation will announce the total raised from within First Weber. Nancy K Smith, Executive Director of the First Weber Foundation, plans for this to become an annual tradition. “Agents have told me that they want to make a difference during the holidays, and Giving Tuesday seems like an ideal time to make that (difference) happen.”

First Weber has over 60 offices and 1400 real estate professionals statewide – and approximately 80% of the agents and staff are members of the First Weber Foundation. Employees and agents pledge a portion of their paycheck or commission earnings to the Foundation and then are able to utilize the program to give back to eligible 501(c)3 non-profits in their communities.

The Group Giving program is a popular Foundation program within First Weber because of the ability to work together to raise funds for a cause that is important to them. Common recipients include organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Boys & Girls Clubs, food pantries & shelters, medical-related organizations like the American Cancer Society and ALS, as well as humane societies, conservation groups and more. A First Weber team raises funds through the Foundation, and the Foundation matches up to $2,500 of the donations for the final contribution for the organization.

“I’ve been a member of the First Weber Foundation Board since its inception, and could not be prouder of what my colleagues have accomplished, and I’ve seen first hand the good that it has done in communities throughout the state. Thank you First Weber!!” – Nancy Hilton, Senior Executive Associate, Member, First Weber Foundation Board, First Weber-West Towne Office

Matching Gifts is another popular feature of the First Weber Foundation. Foundation Participants are able to match up to $1,000 per year to eligible non-profit organizations – many of which are the same as Group Giving, but expanded to include eligible cultural arts and university foundations.

Yet another way the Foundation supports community is the simple act of volunteering. One office well-known for their volunteerism is the First Weber Metro South Office. Long-time supporters of the Greenfield Food Pantry, this office holds monthly collections of food and products for the Food Pantry. The Metro South crew also helps sort and box goods for donations, exemplifying the First Weber Foundation’s mission to strengthen our communities through charitable contributions and volunteer leadership.
