Autumn in the Marsh

Wisconsin is filled with beautiful places to visit. Ever been to Horicon Marsh? Here’s what is looks like in Autumn. Take a drive and see the largest fresh water cattail marsh in the United States right here in Southeastern Wisconsin, just about an hour drive from Milwaukee and Madison.

The marsh is well known for the large numbers of migrating Canadian geese, but is also home to almost 300 different kinds of birds.  There are numerous activities to enjoy: hiking, biking, canoeing, birding and more. You can find more Horicon Marsh recreation information here.

Horicon has a rich geological history and was formed by glacial activity. It is a part of the Ice Age National Scientific Preserve of Wisconsin and is a State Wildlife area.  To learn more about the Horicon Marsh and its formation, please see the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources website.

Horicon Marsh is one of Wisconsin’s natural treasures. We hope you can explore this Wisconsin Wildlife area someday and appreciate all Wisconsin has to offer.
