Being active in the community is one way First Weber agents both give back and get interact with other members of the communities they serve. Some of our agents and offices are very active and committed. Jan Murphy, real estate agent in First Weber’s Oshkosh office, is one of those agents and she invites you to participate in the Midmorning Kiwanis Oshkosh Talent Untapped contest.
Categories include: Vocal music, intrumental, dance, comedy, theatrical and more
Divisions: Adult and youth
Prizes: $500 per division and potential Grand Opera House performance
All funds raised from Oshkosh Talent Untapped support education grants and scholarships in the local community.
Jan is an active member of the Oshkosh Kiwanis and is currently Vice President. Some of the community-oriented activities her group is involved in are delivering Meals on Wheels, and working the Restore store for Habitat for Humanity.
Recently, they held a chili cook-off to raise funds for their Education Grants and Scholarships. In the last several years, they have raised and donated more than $45,000 in education grants and scholarships. One of their grants last year is currently providing students with the opportunity to use the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s lab to conduct water tests and a water quality study in the middle school. The goal is to develop an interest in science with this hands on experience – helping to increase the number of local students looking at careers in the science fields.
The fundraising goal for the talent show is $15,000-$20,000.
Thanks to Jan and her group for their volunteer work in the Oshkosh area and thank you for reading the First Weber Group Wisconsin real estate & real living blog.
